Day 6 – Noticing

Day six of the 30 Day Challenge focused on the “Noticing Phase.” Participants were tasked to:

  1. Type each of their niche candidates into the Google toolbar followed by the word “affiliate,” e.g., speed reading affiliate.
  2. Notice the number of affiliate programs on the left hand side. (Numerous affiliates are indicative of a mature market in which people are likely making money selling products in the niche.)
  3. Notice who is advertising on the right hand side with Google Adwords.

Days 4 & 5 – Catching Up

Lesson 3 was finally released and covered keyword research. Using the free wordtracker tool, participants were instructed to conduct keyword research on each of their seven markets and copy the results in a text or word file. Next, participants were to conduct competitive research using the TDC toolbar. The goal here is to note what competitors are selling and how they are selling.

Day 3 – Has It Posted Yet?

Our 30 Day Challenge (30DC) team ran into some bandwidth issues on Day 3, which delayed our lesson for the day. This speaks volumes for the impact and popularity of the 30DC. And, it certainly fuels my excitement for the course. So while waiting for the technological issues to be resolved, I began to review the preseason materials. Included was a tutorial on the setup and use of facebook, and additional tools such as Skype, meebo and twitter that will be used during the challenge.

The 30 Day Challenge

Days after getting my blog setup, I started to tinker around with various WordPress plugins. As luck would have it, my experimentation shut my entire blog down. All I could see was a white screen on the site and through my admin interface. So once again, I contacted technical support to bail me out and they had the nerve to take about a week to troubleshoot the problem and get the blog functioning once again. Needless to say, I lost some momentum and have been a bit tentative about getting back in the saddle. But, a new surge of enthusiasm has arrived.
