Brian Johnson, author of Commission Ritual, has recently opened the doors to his Halloween Super Affiliate Coaching Program. Halloween is a market I have been trying to successfully break into for the past couple of years. After all, this is a $7 billion dollar industry.

So when I heard about this coaching program, I couldn’t resist. I’ve been working on various projects over the past year, some worth the effort and others not. Since I already have a Halloween site, it makes sense to finally get it optimized and churning out some real dough. And because this program is starting in July, the timing couldn’t be better.

If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried more than your share of programs that have promised to provide the “magic pill.” Unfortunately, most of these programs under deliver. However, my impressions about Brian Johnson give me the sense that he will deliver the tools and techniques for a profitable Halloween. Plus, the program will last for 90-days, taking you right through the Halloween buying frenzy.

Don’t worry, I did a bit of research first. I checked comments and real reviews in spots like the Warrior Forum regarding his reputation and quality of products. For the most part, he gets a big Thumbs Up. Furthermore, the folks he’s partnered with also tend to have some decent reputations. So, we’ll see how it goes. And with a 60-day money back guarantee, there is not much to lose…save some time.

If you’re eager to get your slice of Halloween profits, join me in the Halloween Super Affiliate program. It looks like it will be a scary good time!

Do you know where your customers have their point of pain? If you don’t, then you are missing a great opportunity to target your products to address those pains and make great sales gains. Pay attention to the feedback you get from people when they are on your website. The complaints are just as important as the praises they leave. If you don’t have an area for feedback, then you are missing a good way to improve your business and increase your bottom line. So, offer a way for customers to provide feedback, once they become members or register with your site.

The Complaints Are Opportunities

If you hear someone complaining of a headache and you offer them an aspirin or aspirin substitute, what do you think they will do? They are in pain and the longer they don’t address that pain, the more they will continue to suffer. So, most people will take the pill and take you up on your offer as quickly as possible, with immense gratitude, no less. So, what’s the difference between that and the type of pain your customers have when they are looking to solutions to their problems? Nothing! If you can find a way to address a complaint about something that irritates or makes them suffer, you have a brand new area to sell them on too.

Expand Your Inventory For Healing

Even if you don’t have the right product or service to eliminate their pain, you do have a network of people from affiliate partners to wholesalers that can help you locate that special product that is going to specifically address an area of pain your customers have expressed in their feedback. Can you just imagine how delighted they will be when you email market that solution and offer it them? They will not only be happy that someone took the time to listen to their pain, but also took the trouble to help them heal it too.

The real opportunities can come if there is no competing product out there that addresses a specific pain that you’ve pinpointed in your customer base. In that instance, you will want to take the time to develop a product, after researching exactly how widespread the pain may be in the general population. Then, you will be like a pharmaceutical company that has developed a miracle drug that treats an annoying and difficult problem that no one else has been able to manufacture or deliver before. You will corner the market.

Keep It In The Family

While it’s great to solicit feedback, it shouldn’t be an open-ended function of your website. You want to address your customers’ pains, not the entire worlds. So, keep it in the family. Solicit feedback from paying customers or members of a membership site that you own. Unlike a corporation that can put out an anonymous suggestion box on their website, the same action will only yield plenty of obnoxious comments, and other marketers hocking their wares on your site! So, while the goal is to be helpful and address pain points that can help you expand your business, it doesn’t mean you have to take on the entire world’s pains or allow interlopers to take advantage of your kindness.

An excellent resource to writing and marketing so that people with problems will buy is Desperate Buyers Only. The guide not only reveals how to locate problems of which people are looking for solutions, but how to deliver those solutions. Read more!

If you have a particular market niche where new products come out all the time, you will want to cultivate the early adopters to make faster sales. This works particularly well in technical market niches. Early adopters help drive sales, and if the product is good, it will fly off the shelves. So, how do you go about cultivating early adopters?

Identify The Big Promoters

It isn’t just enough to have a contact list with people who love technical gadgets or other goodies. You have to identify people who can quickly promote your products, if they like them. One way to do that is to find blog owners who are within your market niche who have a big following. Ask them if they would like to review your product, either for pay or for the product itself. If it’s something of interest to them and their readers, you won’t have much trouble twisting their arms to get them to comply, especially if you find ways to sweeten the pot. The goal here is to get your product reviewed by an expert in the market niche and promote it by getting the word out as soon as possible to as many people in that niche as possible.

A recent example of this method occurred with the launch of Affiliate Themes by Unique Blogdesigns. Unique Blogdesigns partnered with several super affiliates to promote these new themes on their blogs and to their respective email marketing lists.

Email Market To Prior Customers

Who on your contact list bought the earlier version or similar product to the new one you are now promoting? That’s the best place to start selling the newest version. Early adopters may have many of the same products in their home, but what sells them isn’t the product itself, it’s being the first to own the product before it hits the mass market. And, if you’ve taken the time to cultivate the buying behavior of your customers you should have a ready list of people to market via email. Just send out notice that you have a new product in the works and that you will offer them a sweet deal for placing an order to reserve theirs before anyone else.

As long as you have permission to solicit people on your email list, they won’t consider it spamming. In fact, they’ll probably be excited to get a peek of the new product before anyone else. Let them know what all the features and benefits are, just as if you were marketing a new client, and also how it differs from any similar products they bought from you before.

Offer A Recycling Program

This is one way to snag new customers who may have other products, even some of your old ones, and give them an incentive to trade them in for the new product. If you can find a way to swap and still make a good deal, you will have created demand for people who already have an interest in the type of product your are rolling out.

What tactics do you use to generate buzz about your product offerings?

Have you decided to run an online business at home? Do you have the space and tools you need to be productive?

Working from home is a very flexible option that can be extremely cost-effective for your online business. The potential for success can be great if you have the discipline to work, despite distractions, and you have the technology required to run a modern online business.

But, before taking the plunge, there are a few things you should do to improve your ability to succeed. First, identify a separate room for your office. Your work will require it because you will need it psychologically to reinforce the fact that you are at work. A separate room solely devoted to your business is also useful to claim the home office deduction on your income taxes.

Your room should be big enough for a desk, chair, computer, phone, file cabinet, bookshelves and workspace for assembling materials, as needed. If you will be meeting customers, you need enough room for chairs or a couch and a table.

Once your space is sorted out, you now need to equip your home office. Make sure to have enough electrical outlets, installing extras as needed, for your office equipment. You’ll need a dedicated phone line for your business (separate from your regular home phone line) for phone and fax support. You will also need a high-speed Internet connection. There are several companies that now offer package deals that include phone and Internet access such as Verizon Fios. You may also want to install a wireless connection. Depending on the service you select, a wireless modem

may be included in the package and is great if you need an occasional change of scenery around the house.

As a final note, you should check with your homeowner’s insurance policy to make sure you are covered in case of loss. Some policies specifically exclude businesses from coverage. Whatever the case, your best bet is to have a home based business endorsement that specifically covers your online business.

Starting a small business is one of the most important decisions you can make in your life. If you do it right, then there is no telling how far you can go.

So how do you pick a business that’s right for you – one that is suited to your strengths, one that you are passionate about, and one that allows you to make a nice profit?

First, make a list of the things you are passionate about. Write down everything that excites you, what it is that you love most. Once you know what you love, figure out what business you could start that relates to that love. Then determine whether you can make a sufficient profit from it. There is no sense in starting a business, no matter how passionate you are about the idea, if you will not be able to make a good living.

If you’re unsure as to the viability of your idea, do some research.

Are there any businesses similar to the one you want to create?

How much does a small business of the type you want to start make?

How quickly do they make it?

What startup costs are involved?

Does your idea fill a market need?

Although pursuing your passion is a start, you also want a business that fulfills a market need. The most successful businesses find a need, a niche and fill it. Do that, and almost everything else will fall into place.

So before you take the plunge into starting a business, it is important to do your homework and to find a niche that fills a market need. Use the things you are passionate about to determine if there is a need that is not being met or a problem that needs to be solved. Figure out what you can sell that people need and you are well on your way to a successful business start.

As discussed in Part I of Pricing Products and Services, snooping around to see what your competitors are charging is a good starting point for establishing your own price structure. Here is another simple formula you can follow to help when choosing your price points.

First, determine your costs per item or service. Include any materials that you use like packaging, advertising, production costs, etc. Once you are done, you should have a rough estimate of how much each product you offer costs.

Next, determine the cost of your time and labor. Do this by adding the hours it takes you to complete the task. Then decide what your hourly wage will be. It’s up to you how much you will pay yourself. When in doubt start with minimum wage then gradually increase your wage to raise the price of the product. If you have a problem with this just think about what you might pay an employee to do the same job for you.

Now that you have added the cost and time, you need to add in a profit margin. This is typically about 30%-50% of the price you’ve come up with so far. And bam, you’re all done.

You should have the perfect price point to charge for your product or service. If you are unsure, do some testing. Try selling at a slightly higher or lower price to see which sells better. Keep in mind that most often it is easier to lower prices than to raise them depending on what business you are in.

Pricing your products or services appropriately is a challenging part of any online business. You know what you have and what you can do, but do you know how much you should charge? Consider these few ideas when you are picking your price points.

First, find out what the competition is charging. Write down the prices of as many comparable products or services within your niche. By comparable, I mean pick those products or services that are the same or similar to your own.

Second, create a list of the top three products or services you’ve identified. These should be the items you feel would be most likely to compete directly for the attention of your target audience.

The last step is to consider the following questions:

Does your product or service introduce something new? Is it something no one else is offering? If so and geared toward consumers, charge 20%-50% more than your highest priced product or service. If it’s geared toward business people, charge 30%-100% more than your highest priced product or service.

Does your product or service provide a solution different from your competitors? If so, charge the median price; the average price between the lowest and highest products.

Keep in mind that just because someone else is selling for less doesn’t mean you should lower your prices. It is not always a good thing to be the cheapest out there. You might be surprised to know that you can take away a competitor’s business by increasing your value and charging a higher price. One of the biggest secrets of pricing is that people assume a higher price means better quality and more value.

When you first decided to delve into internet marketing, you were probably excited about the instant wealth you were sure to achieve. You couldn’t wait to get up and get going every day. But as with most things in life, you soon realized that internet marketing was more than a notion. You were probably ready to give up on more than one occasion. And even now you may have doubts. But, the way you handle those doubts will determine how successful you will be.

Just think, no one ever said that starting a business would be easy. Starting a business is one of the most challenging things you will do in life. It is also one of the most rewarding.

You made a commitment when you decided to start your business. You can’t give up, even though sometimes you may feel like you are doomed to fail. Keep in mind that even the most successful businesses hit hard times now and then. This is clearly evident from the recent US government bailouts of our financial institutions and the historic unemployment rate. The important thing to remember is to believe in yourself and your business.

Find a way to handle the stress. Stress can affect you mentally, physically and emotionally. You need to be strong and you need to have someone to turn to for help and support. Give some thought to the way you respond to things that go wrong. Will you work harder and get it fixed or will you give in and quit. The choice is yours.

If you asked a group of wealthy people what the true secret to their success was, they would tell you that you have to keep trying, no matter how long it takes or how hard times get. Remember the only real failure in life is when you quit. Everything else is just a life lesson.

So, here’s to your success!

Some people believe that great leaders are made, not born. While it may be true that some people are born with natural talents, without practice, drive, enthusiasm, and experience, there can be no true development in leadership. Good leaders continually work and study to improve their natural skills.

In the online marketing arena, a leader is typically characterized by their ability to influence others. Leaders are able to turn prospects into leads and leads into customers by establishing that: 1) they can help people move closer to their goals; or 2) they have a system, skills or knowledge that will make life easier.

When you know how to do BOTH of those things…people will be attracted to you. Add that to your marketing plan and you are sure to sell products. People will not only consider your offer, but will purchase from you and come back for more. As long as they see that you know what you are doing, you will have a captive audience.

Remember that being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. So, if you haven’t already done so, take your stand and be a leader in your market today.

Successful entrepreneurs are not born. Anyone can be a successful entrepreneur. However, there are some specific entrepreneurial traits a person must have to be successful. Of course, entrepreneurship is not for everyone. But with these particular character traits, you can see if you really have what it takes to succeed in the highly-competitive, world of business.

1. Independence – This is the most common denominator of all entrepreneurs. They want to seize control of their future; thus they decide to become their own boss instead of laboring under the gaze of a master. An entrepreneur has a strong sense of independence and will march forward with a purpose and that is to earn money through his own means and hard work.

2. Persistence and Determination – The world of entrepreneurship is fraught with both success and failure. An important quality of a successful entrepreneur is the doggedness to continue pursuing their goals despite the setbacks and obstacles that may occur. This persistence and determination is fueled by a burning desire to succeed.

3. Self-Confidence – Along with independence, an entrepreneur possesses self-confidence. They believe in their capabilities and makes sure that they put their best foot forward and expect the best results from their efforts. The business world is very competitive and is not a place for the half-hearted. Belief in one’s capabilities is very important in achieving any goal – especially in the world of entrepreneurship.

4. Creativity – In the business world, you cannot afford to be complacent and uncreative unless you want the competition to move ahead of you. You must be able to create new ideas as well as find new ways to solve problems. In doing so, you stay ahead of the competition.

5. Organized and Goal-Oriented – An entrepreneur knows the value of organization in a business endeavor. All efforts must be focused towards achieving their goals. A good entrepreneur systematizes every move he/she makes so that less time and other resources are consumed in achieving their goals. A good reference for setting up systems for your business processes is The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber.

6. Vision – An entrepreneur has a vision for his future. They are guided by this vision in everything they do. This vision may be for short, mid- or long-term goals, but all visions are to ultimately succeed in growing one’s business.

7. Risk-taker and Tolerance for Failure– A good entrepreneur realizes that loss and failure are inherent in any business endeavor. Thus, an entrepreneur must always be ready to make calculated risks and face whatever consequences those risks might have. Entrepreneurs must have the courage to face failure and start again despite these setbacks. As in all fields of endeavor, the characteristic of a successful entrepreneur is in never giving up and in picking up the pieces and continuing the journey even if failure momentarily obstructs the way.

8. Perseverance and Hard Work – These are perhaps two of the most important entrepreneurial traits. In the world of business, there can be no real success without perseverance and hard work.

9. Commitment – An entrepreneur will not achieve success if they give up at the first sign of trouble.

10. Honesty and Honor – Another very important mark of a good entrepreneur is in being honest and honorable in their business dealings and interpersonal relationships – whether it is between business partners, employees, peers or investors.

If you are having a hard time with your business or achieving your goals, determine where you can improve on the above mentioned entrepreneurial traits and qualities. Where you have shortcomings, develop them and you will begin to see your business turn around.
